Contractors will have the opportunity to learn new marketing and business skills from a range of experts who have contributed to the webinars being launched by PCG on National Freelancers Day, 23rd November 2011.
The Special Webinar Series for Freelancers features several 20-minute videos offering unique insights from fifteen experts. Topics include starting out in contracting, generating new business, overcoming challenges and avoiding common pitfalls, and how to avoid becoming a contracting commodity.
According to ContractorCalculator CEO Dave Chaplin, who is delivering a webinar on pitfalls to avoid on your way to a successful contracting career, the webinars present a valuable opportunity for new contractor to maximise their chances of launching a successful contracting career, and for experienced contractors to up their game.
“The National Freelancers Day Special Webinar Series offers contractors a unique opportunity to benefit from insights, tips and tools delivered by people with first-hand knowledge and expertise,” says Chaplin. “The webinars complement what is shaping up to be an exciting day for the UK’s contractors.”
In addition to Chaplin, the fifteen expert contributors include contracting and freelancing gurus such as Dan Pink from the USA and Matt Barrie from Australia, who will be offering an international perspective. Matt Craven will be describing the ‘portfolio’ freelancer CV and John Niland will be suggesting less ‘cringe-worthy’ ways for contractors to ask for referrals.
Contracting’s importance to the economy will be a core theme of this year’s Freelance Lecture being held later in the day, following the launch of the webinars. Panel members include ‘corporate anthropologist’ Dr Karen Stephenson and Sunday Telegraph Business Editor Kamal Ahmed. Professor Andrew Burke of Cranfield School of Management will present the preliminary findings of the PCG-commissioned research he is conducting into the true value of the UK’s contracting and freelance sector.
Broadcaster Sue Lawley will once again host the event, which is to be held at 18:30 in the home of the London Symphony Orchestra, St Luke’s in London. Contractors wishing to attend can book online.
